Another Industrial Building Almost Ready!
Another industrial building is almost ready for lease or sale. This 115,000 sq. ft. building was owned by Levi Strauss until 2000 and has been predominately used for warehouse space since that time. A new owner is doing repairs and plans to lease for manufacturing, warehouse/distribution, or call center. This is a good, solid building with 10 ft. minimum eave height and approximately 16 ft. maximum ceiling height in center. Zoned industrial, but literally across the street from a golf course and within walking distance of a 4,002 ft. runway general aviation airport. Email for more information vision21@hickmanco.com .
Professional Economic Developer
Why should you call us during your retail or industrial site selection process? Yes, we have some good sites and a quality work force available. In addition, Hickman County has a full-time professional economic developer to assist you. I have ten years experience in economic development and have recently completed the coursework with the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) required to sit for the Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) exam, which I plan to take in June. I have also earned a Masters of Business Administration from Tennessee Technological University. Last but certainly not least, I was raised in Hickman County in a typical work hard, treat people right family.
I know the people and programs to access the best incentive package available to you. My organization's services are provided by the community in order to bring jobs to our residents. We succeed when you succeed.
Feel free to contact me for a discrete discussion of what we have to offer and how we can fulfill your needs for a new location.

New Chamber of Commerce Website
The Hickman County Chamber of Commerce has a new website. It is still under construction, but looks like it is going to be another benefit for those of us who are chamber of commerce members.... and for those non-business types just looking for more info on Hickman County. The address is www.hickmanco.org.
Economic & Community Development Strategic Plan Update Meeting
Hickman County Economic & Community Development Association will host a public meeting to solicit input to update Hickman County's Strategic Plan for Economic & Community Development. Each year, we invite the input of the public and community leaders in determining what the community should be focusing on in the future. East Hickman development? Community fire protection? Improve water systems? Recruiting new employers? If so, what kind of employers? Existing Business Retention & Expansion? Maintain the status quo? Attract retirees? Promote tourism? These are just a few of the questions that may be considered by those who attend. This is part of our efforts to become recertified as a 3-Star Community.
The meeting will be held in the conference room in the Career Center building located at 130 Progress Center Plaza on April 10th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.

Hickman County - Rural, yet near Nashville
Hickman County has the advantage of having an available labor force with a rural work ethic. The unemployment rate is 7% due in part to the YKK plant closure. Being near Nashville (in the Nashville/Davidson County MSA, but not the non-attainment zone), the county offers larger city amenities within a short drive.
Hickman County also has county and municipal industrial development boards and a full-time economic developer to help expedite each industrial expansion or relocation.

Vacant and Available Industrial Building 120,000 sq. ft.
The former YKK facility is 120,000 sq. ft. of well-maintained, masonry wall industrial and/or warehouse/distribution space. NAI Global is listing the property and it is officially on the market and available for sale. YKK Snap Fasteners produced products for the garment industry and has consolidated the Centerville operations into other facilities. This has left a quality, stable workforce with a rural work ethic and a beautiful facility waiting for someone looking for a welcoming community conveniently located near Nashville with easy access to I-40 and I-65. For more information, email vision21@hickmanco.com or call 931.729.5953.
